This cabin (1969) features hand-peeled fir logs and a split cedar shake roof, similar to homes built by the first American settlers on Puget Sound in 1845. The hydrangeas that bracket it are spectacular.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind comments on this photo. The cabin is "Tumwater Historical District." It's on the edge of a park but not really part of it. There are two other historical buildings nearby and I'll post photos of them this week.
The hydrangeas are out of this world. As you may know, in some species the exact color depends on the pH level of the soil. I've got a photo of a bright pink one from a friend's garden that's in my queue to post.
I could happily live here. Gorgeous wooden hut and those wonderful blooms.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular indeed!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a picture-perfect photo. The brilliant blue blooms catches one's eye and leads naturally to the picturesque log cabin. Very nice framing!
